Milling
The milling stage in a feed mill is essential for reducing the size of feed ingredients, such as grains and seeds, in order to obtain a suitable consistency for feed production. Ingredients are ground and pulverized using specific machines such as hammer mills. Particle size is crucial, as it affects digestibility and the assimilation of nutrients. It is important to monitor parameters such as temperature and moisture to ensure the quality of the final product and prevent contamination.
Large Rotor Hammer Mill, GR model
The large rotor hammer mill is a machine made entirely from heavy-gauge steel, with two side doors for easy and quick access to the grinding chamber, screens and hammers. The machine consists of a sturdy base, made of welded “U” profiles, to which are anchored the mill and the motor, which is connected directly to the shaft with a flexible joint in between. The base rests on anti-vibration feet to dampen the vibrations that are transmitted. The heavy-duty construction and large dynamically-balanced rotor allow for operation with minimal vibration. The diameter of the rotor, which is larger than standard models, allows the installation of 4-pole motors, while still guaranteeing optimum peripheral speed. The walls in contact with the grain are made of wear-resistant steel that is 15 to 20 mm thick and are interchangeable, thus allowing long life of the mill. At the top of the structure there is a double-wing inlet diffuser for diverting the flow in one of two directions. The product is crushed by means of a series of hammers made from a special hardened alloy that can be rotated for better utilization on both sides. The shaft is coupled to the electric motor by a flexible coupling and drives the hammers in rotation. The product is intercepted by the screens supported by the frame with chain hinges and a tensioner. The release/coupling system is made with two electropneumatically controlled cylinders that allow replacement of the screens even with the mill in motion without opening the doors, as this operation takes place at the front of the machine by means of special handles. Screen and hammer replacement is extremely simple and quick. The machine is equipped with all the necessary safety devices, including sensors that stop operation if the doors are opened, ensuring the protection of the operator during every stage of use and maintenance.
Hammer Mill, LG model
Our historic hammer mill is named after its creator, Laurenzi Giuseppe, founder of the Cimas brand. It is a machine made entirely from heavy-gauge steel, with two side doors for easy and quick access to the grinding chamber, screens and hammers. The machine consists of a sturdy base, made of welded “U” profiles, to which are anchored the mill and the motor, which is connected directly to the shaft with a flexible joint in between. The base rests on anti-vibration feet to dampen the vibrations that are transmitted. The heavy-duty construction and dynamically-balanced rotor allow for operation with minimal vibration. The walls in contact with the grain are made of wear-resistant steel that is 15 to 20 mm thick and are interchangeable, thus allowing long life of the mill. At the top of the structure there is a double-wing inlet diffuser for diverting the flow in one of two directions. The product is crushed by means of a series of hammers, the number of which varies according to the model, made from a special hardened alloy. The hammers are reversible and can be rotated to ensure optimal use on both sides, thus increasing their operating life. The shaft is coupled to the electric motor by a flexible coupling and drives the hammers in rotation. The ground product is intercepted by the screens supported by the frame. Screen and hammer replacement is simple and quick. The mill is supplied with 4 screens (2 for maize-based flour and 2 for broken feed), based on the user’s needs. The machine is equipped with all the necessary safety devices, including sensors that stop operation if the doors are opened, ensuring the protection of the operator during every stage of use and maintenance.
Hammer Mill, MV model
The MV hammer mill is a machine that has a rigid base suitable for supporting the moving masses of material and ensuring maximum stability. The base is made of welded profiles, in which there are the seats for the supports holding the electric motor connected to the shaft by means of a V-belt drive. The casing forms the lower part of the grinding chamber and houses the double-body cast iron supports for the rotor shaft. The latter is dynamically balanced to ensure perfect rotation axiality and to minimize vibration during operation. The product is crushed by means of a series of hammers, the number of which varies according to the model, made of a special hardened alloy that can be easily rotated to ensure optimal use of both sides, thus increasing their operating life. The grain is intercepted by the screens supported by the frame with chain hinges and a tensioner. There is a magnetic plate at the inlet for the product to be ground to prevent iron and steel objects from entering the grinding chamber. The mill is supplied with two pairs of screens (2 for maize-based flour and 2 for broken feed), based on the user’s needs. Screen and hammer replacement is extremely simple and quick. The machine is equipped with safety system at the inlet opening to ensure the safety of the operator.
Vertical Mill, MVT model
The vertical hammer mill stands out for its great compactness, making it easy to fit even in small spaces and simplifying the grinding cycle. The vertical design allows a direct path from top to bottom, eliminating the need for linking conveyors and using only the force of gravity. This approach allows high energy efficiency, which is further enhanced by the design configuration that requires a minimal volume of air in the grinding chamber. The reduced need for air makes it possible to maintain the product moisture content, preventing weight loss during processing. The rotor is coupled directly to the motor, a feature that eliminates supports, joints and other intermediate mechanical components, reducing maintenance costs and increasing the overall reliability of the machine. The compact machine body also facilitates maintenance operations: screen changes are quick and safe, thanks to the grinding chamber’s pneumatic opening system. The screens retain the fine product, which is expelled by dropping from the discharge outlet at the bottom. The motor-rotor assembly is mounted on vibration-damping mounts, ensuring remarkably quiet operation. The machine is equipped with all the necessary safety devices, including sensors that stop operation if the doors are opened, ensuring the protection of the operator during every stage of use and maintenance.
